WALKING THE PATH OF THE SHAMANISTIC PRACTITIONER

( taken from: THE FOUR FOLD WAY by ANGELES ARRIEN, PH.D )

THE WARRIOR - STANDING MEDITATION (direction NORTH)

Accessing the Inner Warrior

Accessing the Quality of Presence and Inner Authority Stand with your head erect,
your arms at your sides, and your feet shoulder width apart.
Your eyes should be open, and fixed softly on a distant point.

The rattle should be used on a regular basis to spend time doing soul retrieval work.

THREE UNIVERSAL POWERS
1. POWER OF PRESENCE
2. POWER OF COMMUNICATION
3. POWER OF POSITION

Remember respect, honor, reciprocity, these are the right use of Power.

THE HEALER - LYING DOWN MEDITATION (direction SOUTH)
Access the Inner Healer
Accessing the Quality of Love and Renewal Lie on the floor with your eyes open and softly focused on a distant point.
Put your arms at your side, with one parallel to your body and the other bent at the elbow with your forearm perpendicular to the floor.

Having one arm raised will prevent you from falling asleep.
The drum should be used on a regular basis for journey work, healing the heart, aligning our rhythm with Mother Earth, and stress reduction.

MEDICINE MAN'S PRAYER
Listen, my dream !
This you told me should be done.
This you said should be the way.
You said it would cure the sick.
Help me now.
Do not lie to me.
Help me, Sun person.
Help me to cure this sick man.

4. VISION QUEST - honoring self in equal proportion to others

THE TEACHER - SITTING MEDITATION (direction WEST)

Accessing the Inner Teacher

Accessing the Quality of Wisdom Sit in a chair or on the floor with your eyes closed, and with your legs crossed or uncrossed. Within this sacred time and posture, you can ask for guidance or for ways to handle internal and external situations with wisdom.

Using a bell or Tibetan singing bowl is useful and renews vibral frequencies.

THE TEACHER ARCHETYPE ASKS US TO BE OPEN TO OUTCOME, BUT NOT ATTACHED TO THE OUTCOME.

WHEN WE EXPRESS THE TEACHER, WE DEVELOP OUR CAPACITIES FOR DETACHMENT ;

WE HONOR OUR HERITAGE; WE BECOME FLEXIBLE AND FLUID, LIKE GRANDMOTHER OCEAN ;

AND WE DEMONSTRATE WISDOM AND IT'S COMPONENTS OF CLARITY, OBJECTIVITY, AND DISCERNMENT.
